The GreenPass was invited to participate in an international meeting between ACRP and the world’s leading airport and blockchain experts. The purpose of the meeting is to understand and discuss the opportunities and solutions of blockchain technology in airport operations under the COVID-19 environment. Experts shared thoughts on blockchain technology and airport operations, paying particular attention to potential blockchain uses and practical applications in real life to solve challenges related to public health issues (including fighting COVID-19 virus).
ACRP (Airport Cooperative Research Program) is an industry-driven application research program designed to provide near-term and practical solutions to airport challenges. ACRP is affiliated with the Division of Science Engineering and Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, United States, authorized by Congress, sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration, and managed by the Transport Research Board.
In the process of the spread of the epidemic, global air transportation has encountered huge challenges. In order to prevent the import of the epidemic, almost all countries have to terminate the international passenger transport business in order to fight against the epidemic. But this state is not sustainable. In order to restart the economy, many countries are thinking about various plans for resuming operations under the coexistence of the COVID-19 virus. Airport operation and the international passenger transportation industry bear the brunt.
As an open solution for epidemic prevention and economic re-opening, GreenPass emphasizes the use of personal digital identity management and personal data privacy management based on distributed ledger technology (DLT), while displaying personal health status through a variety of personal health data and medical test results. It achieves community, regional, national, and international interoperability and collaboration, and has been highly recognized by the global society.
More than 300 people participated in this two-day online conference. The participants were experts in the fields of aviation, consulting, government, technology, public health, etc. from the United States and the world. The background of speakers can be viewed here . The theme of the conference covered all aspects of using blockchain technology to improve airport operation under the epidemic, including the introduction of the basic technology of blockchain, the concept and practice of blockchain applications for users and operators in the airport environment, and the value and solutions brought by blockchain in terms of traceability, data privacy, and data sharing.
In the meeting, Mr. Weimin Xin, the founder of the GreenPass project (founder and CEO of XingHanDa Technologies), systematically introduced the ideas and practices of GreenPass to support the resumption of production under the global epidemic in response to user-oriented application scenarios. Especially for the airport operation scenario, Weimin highlighted the function and role of the GreenPass dynamic health code for the new normal, and emphasized the necessity and urgency for all parties to work together to create a global collaboration framework based on personal health passports.
GreenPass is a non-profit project based on Elastos Decentralized ID management (DID) infrastructure. In the short-term, GreenPass focuses on addressing global needs for fighting the epidemic and resuming economy. The long-term positioning is to allow everyone in the world to have their own digital health passport, and find a balance between maintaining health, freedom and privacy.
